Kitsap Pumas vs UW 4-20-13
Kitsap Pumas vs. University of Washington
Kitsap Pumas continued their pre-season against the University of Washington Huskies. It was a tale of two halves for each team. The Pumas came out strong scoring two first half goals. The first goal coming from a great break by Will Daniels and a great finish to beat the keeper. The second Pumas goal came off a corner midway through the first half to put them up 2-0.
UW wouldn’t be deterred and continued to play hard. The game got real physical, and many fouls and a couple yellows were handed out. While the first half scoring belonged to the pumas, the second half scoring belonged to UW. The Huskies got one back early in the second half, and they started to bring the pressure late. While the Pumas continued to put pressure on the UW back line on occasion, it was the dawgs that drew even after a ridiculous strike from far outside the 18.
This was a great match to watch. It was physical and emotional. Players throwing their bodies around with little regard. The pumas continued to look very good making runs on the outsides. I look forward to this coming season and to see if they can return to championship form. With a small amount of returners from last years squad, this team of new comers looks to be quite dangerous!
The Pumas play another home game tomorrow at 11am at Gordon Field. Admission is free, but donations are being taken up for their youth programs. So come out and enjoy the match and support your local youth soccer!
